Presidential Visit
Yesterday Chris's very thoughtful cousin Michael hooked us up with an invitation to greet President Obama as he arrived in Atlanta. We were so excited for the photo op more than anything, envisioning a picture of Greta shaking his hand, and maybe one of him holding Walter (not likely, but one can dream). Unfortunately, he hopped off the plane, shook a few hands, and was quickly on his way. Maybe it was the Atlanta heat, or the rush hour traffic he was about to encounter. It was still a great experience and very cool to see the whole production!

Countdown
We are in the final days of being a family of 3 and will soon be welcoming our baby boy! Here are some recent pictures of Greta while she's still the star of this blog. It's been a rainy winter, so we've been doing our best to keep her entertained indoors.

Christmas 2011
Another great Christmas came and went in a flurry. Greta enjoyed all of the festivities and we did all the packing we could in between. It was our last Christmas on New York Ave and our last Christmas as a family of three. Lots to look forward to in 2012!
It started the night of the 23rd with a reading of The Night Before Christmas by Santa in the local children's book store

Then off to the deRijke house on the 24th for Christmas Eve dinner and a children's church service

Later that night Greta got to open one gift

And the next morning she was delighted to discover Santa brought her a new CD player (and goldfish in her stocking, which she gobbled up promptly)

We went back to the deRijke's Christmas morning to check out their toys and eat a yummy brunch

And we wrapped up the festivities that night with some pre-bedtime rowdiness. All in all a great holiday!
